第一节:阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该选项标号涂黑。
A
When my son was 11 years old, he got a small job helping out with a traveling carnival in our town. He didn’t come home at lunch time, phoning instead to tell me he was fine and had found a few days’ work helping out at an exhibit. He turned up for supper as usual however after he finished work.
I asked him how he had managed at lunch and he told me he had made some new friends at the carnival, some young men who were twin brothers, and their mom and dad. They had paid him a few dollars and invited him for lunch in return for helping them set up their exhibit and wanted him to return the next day to help with other chores (杂务).
I was glad he had found new friends but a little worried about the type of people who might be traveling in a carnival. "Oh, Mom, these are just normal everyday people like anyone else. They just work at a carnival instead of in a store or something". "Come down tomorrow and meet them yourself," he said.
So the next day I went to the carnival and to the exhibit he had directed me to. The twin brothers turned out to be Siamese (连体的) twins, joined at the chest. He hadn’t thought this fact was noteworthy enough to mention. When I brought it to him, he said, "Yes, I noticed that too. Do you know that their mom has to make all their clothes because it’s so difficult to find anything to fit them? They’re also really good cooks. Today, Joe, the one on the right, made me spaghetti (意大利面条) for lunch."
What others see first in a person is not what a child considers important. Where I saw Siamese twins, he saw people having difficulty buying clothes that fit, and young men who were good cooks. It was a lesson I have thought about many times over the years.

In the modern age of information, reading is a fundamental survival skill. Here are some tips on how to improve reading skills.
8 Tips to Improve Reading Skills
1. You don’t have to be a great reader to get the point.
Some people read fast and remember everything. Others read slowly and take a couple of times to get all the information. It doesn’t matter, really, so long as when you read, you get the information you’re seeking.
2. Know why you’re reading.
Are you reading for entertainment or to learn something? Decide why you’re reading before you start and you’ll greatly improve your comprehension and your enjoyment.
3. You don’t need to read everything.
Not every magazine, letter, and email you receive contains information you need. In fact, most of it is simply junk. Throw it away, hit the delete key! Just doing this will double the amount of time you have available to read.
4. You don’t need to read all of what you do read.
Do you read every article of every magazine, every chapter of every book? If so, you’re probably spending a lot of time reading stuff you don’t need.
Be choosy: select the chapters and articles that are important. Ignore the rest.
5. Scan before you read.
Look at the table of contents, index, topic headers, photo captions, etc. These will help you determine if,  a) you have a real interest in this reading,  and b) what information you’re likely to get from it.
6. Focus.
Remember, you’re reading with a purpose, so focus on that purpose and the material. If you lose interest or keep losing your place, take a break or read something else. You can keep track of where you are by following along with your finger. This simple technique helps you focus and increase your concentration.
7. Practice.
The more you read, the better reader you’ll become (and smarter, too)! So, feed your mind: read!
8. Optimize your reading environment.
You’ll read faster and comprehend more if you read in an environment that’s comfortable for you.

56. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. The faster and the more a person reads, the better he understands.

   D. help a reader decide if he has a taste for the reading material
58. How can a reader focus and increase his concentration while reading according to the passage?

Chinese people had never paid more attention to the annual Nobel literature award — which on Thursday went to Canadian writer Alice Munro — than they did last year when Mo Yan became China’s first winner of the prize.
One year on, and the effect has not disappeared. Tourists continue to rush to Mo’s home village in Gaomi, Shangdong province, which has become a tourist site since the author was awarded Nobel Prize. Visiting the village is to walk into the world he created in Red Sorghum Clan, one of his best-known novels, adapted for the award-winning film Red Sorghum by famous director Zhang Yimou in 1987.
About 210 hectares of red sorghum is ready for harvesting, recalling this scene Mo wrote in the novel: "In the deep autumn of the eighth month under a high, clear sky, the land is covered by sorghum that forms a wild sea of blood. When the sun comes out, the surface of the sea shimmers(闪光), and heaven and Earth are painted with rich, wonderful colors."
Locals have planted the sorghum for the coming film of the novel’s TV adaptation starring actress Zhou Xun, in similar style to 1987 when Zhang’s film was filmed. But while the sorghum fields disappeared after the film was made, this time they may remain."We have signed long-term contracts to sell sorghum to wine producers," said Zhang Xinfu, head of Xianjia village, Mo Yan’s hometown is in the area. "Dozens of wine producers came to discuss the sorghum business after Mo Yan won the prize," said Zhang. Zhang said the wine producers promised to pay a satisfying price for the sorghum.
Chu Hongpeng, a local official said about 10,000 people visited Mo’s old house and the red sorghum fields every day during the week-long National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7. Chu said a typical tourist route includes Mo’s house, the sorghum fields, the filming base for the Red Sorghum TV series, and several scenes in Mo’s novels, such as Pinganzhuang village church. Guan Moxin, Mo’s elder brother, said, "Thousands of tourists came to visit the house every day during the National Day holiday," adding that he had to keep the premises open until 8 pm.
61. What happened to Mo Yan’s home village after he won the Prize?
A. The house of Mo’s at his home village was rebuilt for tourism.
B. The local people at Mo’s home village welcomed the tourists.
C. Many tourists rushed to Mo’s home village to show respect and interest.
D. Mo’s home village remained what it used to be.
62. The underlined word “adapted” in paragraph2 probably means “___________”.
A. settled          B. designed         C. written       D. reorganized
63. Which season was it when the passage was written?
A. Autumn.     B. Winter.      C. Spring.        D. Unknown.
64. What did the local people plant so much red sorghum this year for?
A. The filming of TV series Red Sorghum.
B. The filming of movie Red Sorghum.
C. The benefits of wine producers.
D. The rush of tourists worldwide.
65. According to the text, we can infer that the wine producer bought sorghum from Mo’s home village for__________.
A. the fame of Mo Yan.      B. good quality of the red sorghum itself.
C. the lower price              D. the large amount of the red sorghum .

任务型阅读:
Learning another language isn’t easy, but most people can learn a second language well if they’re willing to put in the necessary time. Here are some practical suggestions for studying effectively, overcoming anxiety, and learning the grammar and skills necessary for success in foreign language classes.
    66
Language learning is cumulative(积累): you cannot put it off until the weekend. Study one or two hours for every class hour if you want a good mark.
Distribute(分配)your study time in 15 to 30 minutes period throughout the day
Study a different task each time: vocabulary now, grammar next, etc. Get an overview during half an hour: spend 10 minutes reviewing conversations, 10 minutes learning new vocabulary, 10 minutes learning new grammar…   67   About 80% of your study time should be spent on recitation(背诵) or practice.
Take part in every class --- even if you aren’t well prepared
68   Learn the grammar and vocabulary outside of class in order to make full use of the class time. Spend a few minutes “warming up” before each class by speaking or reading the language.
Make yourself comfortable in the classroom
Get to know your classmates, so you’ll feel you’re among friends.   69   For example: you explain your goals and fears about the course to your teacher.
Learn grammar if you don’t already know it
Grammar is the skeleton(骨架) and the basic structure of a language, and you must learn it.
Practice for tests by doing what you’ll have to do on the test
If the test will require you to write, then study by writing--including spelling and accents.   70   Ask for practice questions and make up your own test questions. Try to invent changes on patterns and forms. Over learning is also required in tests preparation: study beyond the paints of recognition to mastery.
Develop a good attitude
Have a clear personal reason for taking the class. Set personal goals for what you want to learn. Leave perfectionism at the door; give yourself permission to make mistakes and learn from them.
A. Study every day.
B. Have more practice in listening.
C. So you’ll at least have looked at it all.
D. If you’re asked to listen, practice listening.
E. Class time is your best opportunity to practice.
F. Visit your teacher during office hours to get acquainted (熟悉的).
G. The more you study, the higher mark you will get.

M: Well, it’s done in a skillful way. And boxers are more than just people who fight. Manny is from the Philippines, (14) and he’s a hero there. (15) You know the Philippines just had that awful typhoon, right? It’s a big mess there. More than five thousand people died. (16)
W: What does that have to do with boxing?
M: Well, Manny was about to retire from boxing. But he decided to fight against one of the best boxers in the world, and he won! He said his victory was for his people in the Philippines. Thousands of them had been watching, especially in the city where the most people died. Manny gave them hope again.
Text 10
W: Welcome to Cinema Now. Our guest today is the film director Quentin Tarantino!
M: Hi, Mary!
W: The pleasure’s all ours! Quentin, you became famous after directing your great film Reservoir Dogs in 1992. (17) Then, your 1994 film Pulp Fiction made 200 million dollars and won you an Academy Award for Best Script(剧本). More recently, you made Django Unchained in 2012 which was a worldwide hit, (18) and nominated(提名) for five Academy Awards. What’s your secret to making films?
M: Well, Mary, my brain’s always active. I listen to what everyone says. I watch how people act around me. If someone tells me a joke or an interesting story about their life, I remember it. So when I go to write, I’ll remember all these things I’ve heard. (19) I’m also influenced by the films I’ve seen. Some of my favorites are Taxi Driver by Martin Scorsese (20) and The Great Escape, which stars Steve McQueen. Usually, I start by writing a story in the form of a novel. Then afterwards, I’ll turn the novel into a script.
