I now work 40 hours a week at a weather company and I love it. Compared to when I became a mom, I don’t feel bad about being away from my three kids. When I had my first child, I was a busy manager of a local news station. My husband had a part-time job and cared for her the rest of the time. I was determined to find a way to be home more. Once I became pregnant with my second kid, I quit my job to focus fully on writing.
At first I felt like I was living the dream. I was a work-from-home mom who never had to be away from my children. But working from home can end up being more stressful than working full-time or being a stay-at-home mom, because you’re frequently worn out between work, keeping house, and telling sweet faces you don’t have time to play. Ever tried writing an article with a baby screaming? It was awful.
I was so stressed that I eventually started taking my kids to a day care center a couple of days a week. The whole reason I worked so hard to be able to write for a living was to be at home with my kids and here I was taking them to a day care center. I thought I was a failure then.

Try telling your kid no, 20 times a day. If s cruel. You end up feeling worse for having to ignore them than you would if you were gone at a job all day.” I also realize not having anywhere to be and not socializing with people weren't good for my mental well-being.
Not only that, but I can now show my kids that Mom is important and has a job at a flashy office building, something they didn’t realize when I sat around in yoga pants typing on my computer all day long.

Furthermore, postgraduates usually 55 a higher salary, while undergraduates tend to be satisfied with a 56 starting salary. The best way to 57 a company is to save costs and improve work efficiency. If you were the employer, would you be willing to pay more money 58 an employee with less experience? I guess the answer is negative.
In a word, it is important for both undergraduates and postgraduates to 59 their knowledge structure and improve practical skills to survive in the 60 social competition.

One possible version:
According to the strictest smoking ban since March 1st this year, people in Shanghai are forbidden to smoke in every indoor public place including working offices, any means of transportation, etc.
However, there have been many people violating the ban so far. For example, one day on my way to school in a bus, I saw a middle-aged man smoking, neglecting the warning of the driver completely.
As far as I’m concerned, it is necessary to ban smoking in public places, for smoking can ruin the health of both the smoker and the people around him. Therefore, I want to appeal to the smokers to learn and obey the new rules so that we could have a better public environment.

W: Why not try the 24-hour telephone weather forecast service?
M: Gee! How come I didn’t think of that? I’ll do it right away.
8. W: Tom, when can we expect you and your daughter for dinner? Next Saturday?
M: Next Saturday? I’m sorry. I’ve promised to go to a Chinese opera with my daughter. She’s been longing for that day.
  W: How about Sunday then?
M: Yes, Sunday sounds fine. What time?
  W: Does 6:30 suit you?
M: It suits me fine, but we don’t know where you live.
W: No problem. I’ll meet you at the school entrance. I just live two blocks away.
M: All right. What do you want us to bring?
W: Well, I don’t know. That’ll be for you to decide.
M: Good. I’ve got a new dish that I want to try out.
W: Fine. I’ll see you then.
  M: Thanks. Goodbye.
9. M: Is it true that fast-food restaurants are very popular in the USA?
W: Yes, especially in those big cities.
  M: Why?
W: Because the food is good, the service is fast and the prices are low.
M: Oh, that’s good. Then which restaurant is most well-known?
W: McDonald’s. By 1982, there were 7063 McDonald’s in the world, and about 1283 of them were in other countries, such as Japan, West Germany, England and Australia.
M: I see. How about the service and the food?
W: Well, the employees there are helpful and polite, and the tables and floors are clean enough, most important, customers can get the same food, at any McDonald’s in any state or country. The food, of course, is quite good. French fries, the hamburgers, the sandwiches—all are specially prepared. Workers would buy their lunches there because they tasted better than their lunches from home.
M: Who is the owner of McDonald’s?
W: It was first owned by two brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald. Then, in 1960, Ray Kroc, a 56 years old salesman, bought the name and most of their restaurants for $2.7 million, and now he is the owner.
10.   Yes, you’re right. I am from South Africa. I am not at all used to this cold weather,
but I am glad to say that I have all the clothes for this freezing weather.
When I first got to know that I would be attending this international conference
here in Finland, I had no idea what kind of clothes I should take along. I didn’t know what to do when I thought of this two week stay here, with a rather formal dinner, a few parties, social gatherings and a dance during the conference.
Fortunately, my friend Julia has been to Northern Europe. Yes, she was a great help. She helped to solve my biggest problem. She placed an order for some warm suits and dresses, business-type clothes, of course, of dark colours. She also bought me some skirts and blouses so that I could wear the same clothes in several different ways. A couple of lively coloured dresses will give me a nice change from time to time. She also helped to choose a very warm raincoat and a pair of boots.
Oh, how lucky I am to have such a helpful friend. She saved me a lot of trouble.
