第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。
A
A core human need is validation(认可)-that experience of feeling seen and understood. We long for it. We don't feel safety, belonging or mattering without it. According to Oprah Winfrey, who has interviewed thousands upon thousands of people from ordinary folks to world leaders and highly successful business people, they all ask her the same question after the interview: "Did I do OK?"
In seeking validation many people talk without listening first. We are eager to make our next point and be validated. So we don't listen. While the other person is speaking, we are arranging our next piece of brilliance and persuasion in our minds. When we're told we need to be more "present" or even told to talk less, we start out with the best intentions, but soon find ourselves competing for airtime.
As leaders, part of our job is to find our validation elsewhere and give the gift of listening to our team.
Here's how you can help yourself become a more successful listener: ask more questions. Ask questions and actually listen for the answer and keep your mouth closed until it's time to ask the next question. Try keeping the ratio of questions to you offering your opinion at 80% questions to 20% your opinion.
In a team, especially if you are learning to collaborate better, try a few meetings using a device like a talking stick (only the person holding the stick can talk) to ensure that everyone gets equal airtime. The "talking stick" concept comes from Native American traditions but can be any object that is culturally appropriate for your team-even a pen will do.
In the age of organizations as living organisms, listening is the skill that will help your team soar-and give them the emotional experience they long for.
21. Why did people ask "Did I do OK?" after the interview?
A. They are not confident about themselves.    B. They want to show off before the host.
C. They all long to be validated.      D. They seldom have the chance to be interviewed.
22. What is the second paragraph mainly about?
A. how to seek validation       B. why we don't listen
C. when to make our next point     D. what is the best intention
23. As a leader, what should you do to be a more successful listener?
A. Find validation in your team.      B. Keep your mouth closed.
C. Ask 80 questions and offer 20 opinions.    D. Raise more questions.
24. For what reason is a talking stick used in some meetings ?
A. To follow Native American traditions    B. To help the team rise in spirits
C. To check that everyone gets the same airtime  D. To strengthen the importance of a meeting
B

Can animals be artistic? Painting and music are part of efforts to keep animals happy at the Smithsonian's National Zoo.
A sloth bear(长毛熊)called Francois is one of the National Zoo's artists. He began his artistic career two years ago. Francois has a very unusual way to paint. He uses his breathing to paint. His zookeeper, Stacey Tabellario, says that although the technique may look strange, it is actually a very natural behavior for sloth bears. The zookeepers fill one of those tubes full of paint and ask them to breathe through it. And they blow all of the paints onto the canvases (画布), making these really cool paintings.
Animal artists come in all shapes and sizes at the Zoo. They use many kinds of techniques to create their works of art. Apes use paintbrushes. Many use their paws or claws-much like a human painter who would use his or her hands.
Stacey Tabellario says Francois seems to enjoy expressing himself through his art. "When I set up the materials for painting activity, he comes and sits next to them and waits until they are ready for painting. He does that every time. I also see where his eyes go. He does see the paints come out of the tube and land on the canvas. "But not every animal wants to paint.
Music is another part of the arts enrichment program. Physically and mentally stimulating activities are an important part of the daily care of the animals. Trainers have a lot of tools, from tablet computer to small toys.
Kenton Kerns says the program helps the animals and the zookeepers in many ways. Every interaction between keepers and their animals creates some sort of connections. The one-of-a-kind works of art created by the animals are popular with zoo visitors. Many are sold at the zoo's fund-raising events.
32. What can we learn from the second paragraph?
A. Francois is a two-year-old artist at the National Zoo.
B. Francois' way to paint is an unnatural behavior for sloth bears.
C. Francois paints by blowing the paints in the tubes onto the canvas.
D. Francois can make fantastic paintings with paintbrushes.
33. How do the apes paint?
A. By blowing the tubes full of paints.    B. By using their hands directly.
C. By using some tools.       D. By walking on the canvas.
34. What do we know about the one-of-a-kind works of art created by the animals?
A. They can be sold at a high price.     B. They can be bought at the zoo's fund-raising events.
C. They are mainly popular with the kids.   D. They create higher prices than the artists.
35. What's the best title of the passage?

For example, one of the  64  (activity) was meant to demonstrate(证明)the role of sunlight in making chlorophyll(叶绿素)and making plants green. I  65  (try) the experiment on a leaf of a bush first. Rain, wind and bad weather made it nearly impossible  66  (keep) any sort of sunlight attached to the leaf, however, so I moved indoors.
Next I made an experiment with a house plant.  67  (use)a paper clip, I attached a hard 2-inch square of cardboard to a leaf on the plant, and then waited. I checked the leaf after three weeks: no change. I waited  68  . . . . two weeks, and instead of turning yellow, the section of leaf under the cardboard looked  69  (green) than the rest of it!

第二节 书面表达
【范文赏读】
Dear David,
I’m glad to receive your letter. We can not deny that there are countless uncivilized behaviors among Chinese tourists visiting other countries, such as spitting, talking loudly, littering, saying bad words in public places and so on. These bad behaviors both at home and abroad have seriously affected China’s image.
There are several reasons why people behave so badly. To begin with, people are not aware of the importance of self-discipline. What’s more, they lack moral education. I think the government should take some measures to fight against this trend and we ourselves should set good examples. As high school students, we should behave politely in our daily lives.
I believe the Chinese people will rid themselves of these rude manners in the future.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
