阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

A

China is rapidly aging, with over 21% of its population projected to be 65 or older by 2035, which leads to a growing dependence on nursing homes (NH). However, facilities there often struggle with high costs and limited medical services.

In response, the government is promoting “smart nursing homes” through initiatives like “Healthy China 2030”. These modern facilities use technological integration to enhance long-distance disease management and support the deeply held desire among the elderly to “age in place” safely.

Despite this vision, a significant problem remains: acceptance. The success of these smart homes critically depends on their perceived acceptability to the elderly and their families. Research indicates that their willingness to adopt such technology is not a given; it is shaped by subjective factors like how useful and easy-to-use they find the technology, as well as personal circumstances like age, income, and health status.

A recent study, as detailed in the accompanying diagram, was designed specifically to investigate these human factors. Phase I was a qualitative exploration conducted over three months in Dalian and Harbin. Through focus groups and individual interviews, researchers gathered deep insights into the expectations and perceptions of potential users, forming a foundational theoretical model. Phase II focused on translating these qualitative findings into a reliable quantitative tool. This involved a three-month process of developing and assessing a detailed questionnaire, which then needed a nationwide survey to measure attitudes on a broader scale in Phase III.

Ultimately, the journey of smart nursing homes in China is not merely a technological challenge but a human one. Their sustainable future depends on a successful combination of advanced innovation with a deep understanding of the users’ needs, perceptions, and emotional comfort.

21. Which phase includes both individual interviews and focus groups interviews?

A. Phase I: Qualitative study. B. Both Phase I and Phase II.

C. Phase II: Quantitative development. D. Phase III: Quantitative study.

22. What is the key difference between Phase I and Phase II of the study?

A. Phase I was nationwide, while Phase II was local.

B. Phase I used a national time plan.

C. Phase I used surveys, while Phase II used interviews.

D. Phase I created a model, while Phase II developed a tool.

23. Why was the study conducted according to the passage?

A. To solve the rapid aging problem in China.

B. To show that people in different cities have different needs.

C. To investigate whether the elderly accept smart nursing homes.

D. To prove the technologies used in smart nursing homes are reliable.

B

In a plum (李子) garden in the idyllic countryside of Southwest China’s Chongqing, 44-year-old Tao Heng set up her phone in a nearby shed to sell plums in front of the camera with a deep breath. No one would have known that the confident live-streamer had been frozen with nerves during her first broadcast.

In Chongqing’s Zhaoxi villages, 70-year-old entrepreneur Chen Kuorong walks through rows of pomelo (柚子) trees. “I just couldn’t bear to see locals cut down their fruit trees for firewood. So I took over,” she recalls.

Though they have different backgrounds and age groups, these women share a common thread: helping achieved women now aged by the digital to transform their rural communities. All women in rural China make up over half of the rural workforce, and in recent years, have been playing a key driving role.

“After establishing the pomelo planting cooperative, I invited experts to provide technical guidance to enhance the variety and quality. I am eager to help locals prosper,” Chen says.

Tao has also established a vocational training school that trains over 100 locals each year, helping her alma mater — especially stay-at-home mothers — find employment. “Leading everyone in my hometown to increase their income and prosperity gives me great satisfaction,” Tao says. She is particularly pleased when she sees rural women who have once been shy now confidently introduce agricultural products before the camera to customers.

Based on the efforts of female entrepreneurs like Tao and Chen, the Chongqing Women’s League has created a public brand channel to sell 5,317 quality products in the online marketplace. The League is collaborating with e-commerce platforms like Amazon and JD.com to help these unique products reach international markets, enabling women to contribute more to the country’s rural revival.

24. How did Tao Heng feel during her first livestreaming attempt?

A. Thrilled and energetic. B. Tense and nervous.

C. Confident and professional. D. Bored and impatient.

25. What contributions did women like Tao and Chen make?

A. Enhancing the local economy. B. Creating a traditional agricultural method.

C. Replacing a beloved farming brand. D. Establishing their own personal business.

26. Why did the author mention the vocational training school?

A. To show the significance of formal education for rural women.

B. To illustrate that vocational training is empowering the community.

C. To argue that vocational training is more effective than self-learning.

D. To highlight the government’s leading role in organizing such schools.

27. What is the main idea of the last paragraph?

A. It argues the impact of e-commerce platforms.

B. It summarizes the personal efforts of Tao and Chen.

C. It explains the importance of e-commerce in rural revival.

D. It stresses the government involvement in promoting e-commerce.

C

A new research found a systematic review of the available evidence, published in the journal JBM Public Health. Video gamers worldwide may be risking irreversible hearing loss from overexposure to loud sound — a condition that exists permanently and can’t be repaired even with advanced medical intervention.

To build evidence base, the researchers investigated relevant studies and white papers published worldwide. The review included 14 peer-reviewed studies from 9 countries in North America, Europe, and Asia Australia, involving a total of 53,833 people. The studies involved epidemiological (流行病学的) observations, the associations between hearing loss and computer or video games and the findings on gaming contents and mobile devices.

Recorded sound levels ranged from 42 decibels (dB) (分贝) on mobile devices to 80-89 dB in gaming centers with noise of exposure caused by mode and frequency of excess — from daily to once a month, at least an hour at a time, or average, binge-playing. Researchers found that sounds reached levels as high as 119 dB during game play; acceptable exposure limits are around 100 dB for children and 130-140 dB for adults. For children, the allowable noise exposure level is defined as 75 dB for 48 hours a week. Children can therefore safely listen to an 85 dB sound for around 6.5 hours, 86 dB for around 3.2 hours, 90 dB for 45 minutes, and 98 dB for just 8 minutes a week, explained the researchers.

The researchers then concluded that the daily level of sound exposure from video games was to maximum acceptable levels of sound enclosure, and gaming headphones could reach unsafe listening levels, which could place some gamers at risk of forever hearing loss.

Further research is essential to inform preventive measures and global policy initiatives, the researchers suggest. There are also several key gaps in the available evidence, for example, the impact of e-sports, geographic regions, gender and age on hearing loss.

28. What does the word “irreversible” most probably mean in paragraph 1?

A. Severe. B. Unreasonable. C. Incurable. D. Unnoticeable.

29. Which conclusion agrees with research findings?

A. 86 dB is safe for children for at least one hour.

B. Adults can be exposed to 110 dB for at least one hour.

C. Higher sound levels mean longer safe exposure time for children.

D. 75 dB allows longer weekly safe exposure than 98 dB for children.

30. What will follow-up research probably focus on?

A. Related regulations on video games.

B. Sound levels of various gaming platforms.

C. Detailed preventive measures on hearing loss.

D. Investigation into other factors of hearing loss.

31. Which is the best title for this passage?

A. What Hidden Risk? B. Why Research Urgently?

C. How to Protect Hearing? D. Further Research Urgent!

D

The Geminid meteor (流星) shower, an annual highlight for skygazers, is set to reach its peak intensity in mid-December. Under ideal conditions of clear and dark skies, observers may witness an impressive display of up to 140 meteors per hour streaking (飞奔) across the night sky.

The peak is forecast for the night of Saturday, December 13th, with best viewing expected in the hours after midnight. While activity continues at lower levels until December 20th, the highest frequency occurs during this short window. For the best experience, astronomy experts recommend finding a location far from urban light pollution, allowing your eyes 20-30 minutes to fully adapt to the darkness, and using nothing but the naked eye. Telescopes and binoculars, despite their clear advantages, are having the opposite effect as they restrict the wide field of view essential for spotting meteors.

What makes the Geminids particularly interesting to scientists is their origin. Unlike most major meteor showers born from icy comets, the Geminids are linked to 3200 Phaethon. As Earth's orbit carries us through the trail of remains left by Phaethon, grains knocked into space from a near-Earth asteroid, vaporizing (蒸发) in brilliant flashes. The streak of light all appear to originate from a single point within the constellation (星座) Gemini, which gives the shower its name.

A key feature of the Geminids is their occasional display of colors, most notably a greenish color, which serves as a direct indicator of their chemical composition, specific metals, such as magnesium (Mg) and nickel (Ni), glow with characteristic colors as they burn up. First recorded in 1862, the Geminid shower has been observed to grow in intensity year by year. Its recent, promising even more spectacular shows through an increasingly thick stream of Phaethon’s debris, astronomers are thus painting a thrilling picture for future generations. It stands as a beautiful reminder of the dynamic nature of our universal neighborhood.

32. What is the main purpose of the passage?

A. To advertise a public stargazing event.

B. To argue for the reduction of urban light pollution.

C. To present scientific data about 3200 Phaethon.

D. To provide an overview of the Geminid meteor shower.

33. According to the experts, what is the key to the best meteor-watching experience?

A. Observing from a highly lit city park. B. Dark environment and unassisted vision.

C. Starting to watch immediately at sunset. D. Using advanced binoculars to see details.

34. What can be inferred about the Geminid meteor shower from the last paragraph?

A. Its unusual colors make it invisible to the naked eye.

B. Its intensity is expected to increase in the coming years.

C. Its annual changes offer clues about the remains in space.

D. It was first discovered by studying its chemical composition.

35. Which of the following statements is TRUE based on the passage?

A. Meteor color indicates its materials.

B. The shower is the most active in the early evening.

C. The best viewing is expected on December 20th.

D. Phaethon rushes into our atmosphere at high speed.

The Librarian's Gift

The school library was little more than a pile of quiet dust, but it felt impersonal to Lena, a student struggling to find her place. That was until she met Mrs. Davies, the librarian. Unlike any adult Lena had known, Mrs. Davies had a way of making everyone feel seen.    36  .

One rainy Tuesday, feeling particularly lonely, Lena wandered around the bookshelves after the bell rang. Mrs. Davies appeared, not with a question, but with a quiet observation. “I’ve noticed you often look at the travel section,” she said softly. Then she reached to a book with a worn blue cover.    37   “This one found me at your age,” she said, and handed it to Lena without another word.

It wasn’t a gesture, but at that moment, it felt like a lifeline.    38   She learned that Mrs. Davies had traveled widely, and that there was a whole world to explore beyond her stories and young mind. Her recommendations were never a chore; each was a chance to understand the world a little more.

Lena started visiting the library daily, she took the book, then another that Mrs. Davies suggested. Slowly, the world within the pages felt more familiar than the hallways of the school.    39   The library had transformed from a silent room into a space of endless possibility, all because one person had taken the time to care.

On the last day of term, Lena returned the blue book. “Thank you,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. Mrs. Davies simply smiled, her understanding.    40   She knew that the right story, at the right time, could truly be a gift.

A. She began to see the library through Mrs. Davies’s eyes.

B. It was about a journey, both external and internal.

C. Curious, Lena started to learn more about the woman behind the desk.

D. Her smile was genuine and always quick to offer recommendations.

E. She has a quiet talent for matching a restless heart with the story it needed.

F. She didn’t need to say for the connection they both felt through books was enough.

G. It felt like a key had been turned, unlocking a door Lena hadn’t even known was closed.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

My phone had died two hours earlier. Now I needed to reach Oriente Station before 8 p.m. to catch the last overnight train. The watch hands pointed mercilessly to 7:20. What’s worse, it began to rain. The winter rain poured down onto centuries-old stones, turning the road into skating rinks (滑冰场).

Just as I was about to give up and look for a hotel, a beam of light appeared at the end of the road. It was an extremely old tram (电车), Line 28, slowly heading toward the stop. The doors opened in front of me and the driver — an elderly man with gray hair — leaned out and waved at me.

I dragged my suitcase onto the tram, too breathless to speak. “Oriente Station...” I took a deep breath, reaching for my wallet to buy a ticket.

The driver frowned. Instead of driving off immediately, he picked up an old radio handset and spoke rapidly in Portuguese. After hanging up, he turned to me. “The regular route won’t make it. Roadworks. At least forty minutes.”

My heart sank. But he continued, “However, I’m finishing my shift today. This tram needs to return to the bus station. And it’s not far from the station.”

For the next fifteen minutes, I experienced the most unreal journey in Lisbon. The old tram didn’t follow the route on the electronic display. Instead, it turned into a narrow path I’d never seen on any map. At 7:50, the tram stopped at a small gate. Just outside Oriente Station.

“Go through this gate and you’ll be at Platform 3 directly,” the driver said, handing me a crumpled (褶皱的) tram ticket. “Keep it as a souvenir. Now run!”

I jumped off with my suitcase, turning back to say something, but the doors were already closing. I followed his directions and ran fast, arriving at Platform 3 just three minutes before the final boarding announcement.

第二节(满分25分)

(one possible version)

I boarded the train in a hurry. As I found my seat and settled down, the crumpled tram ticket in my hand reminded me of the driver’s warm help. The train pulled out of the station, and I stared at the ticket, tracing the faint printed words “Line 28” with my finger. I felt a surge of gratitude, regretting not even saying a proper thank-you. The winter rain outside seemed less cold, and the memory of the driver’s gentle wave kept lingering in my mind, making the long overnight journey feel warm.

Still stuck on that unspoken thank-you, I set out for Lisbon months later. I went to the tram station of Line 28 early in the morning, showing the crumpled ticket to every staff member I encountered. With their assistance, I obtained Carlos’s address where I met the gray-haired man. His eyes lit up the instant he saw me. I handed him a box of local desserts as a gift, expressing my sincere gratitude. Carlos smiled, “It’s just a small favor. Helping others is what we should do.” We chatted for a while, and I left with a heart full of warmth, knowing this stranger’s kindness would stay with me forever.
